The abbreviation LOL means "Laughing Out Loud (or Limits)" or "Lots of Laughs"
La sigla LOL può significare “ridendo forte (o senza fine)” oppure “ridendo a crepapelle” 

Over time the word has taken on other meanings such as "Lots of Love" or "Lots of Luck. Only from the context of the sentence it is possible to understand the exact meaning of LOL.
