A pangram (Greek: παν γράμμα, pan gramma, "every letter") is a sentence using every letter of a given alphabet at least once.

Un pangramma o pantogramma (in greco: γράμμα παν, pan gramma, "ogni lettera") è una frase che usa almeno una volta ogni lettera di un dato alfabeto.

In the past, Pangrams have been used to test teletypes and typewriters, then began to be adopted by the font authors to provide more realistic idea of the use of the typefaces, without resorting to ugly sequence and abused of Lorem Ipsum.

In passato, i pangrammi  sono stati utilizzati per testare telescriventi e macchine da scrivere, poi hanno cominciato a essere adottati dagli autori di font per dare un'idea più realistica dell'uso dei caratteri, senza ricorrere alla brutta sequenza di Lorem Ipsum.

In publishing and graphic design, Lorem Ipsum (derived from Latin dolorem ipsum, translated as "pain itself") is a filler text commonly used to demonstrate the graphic elements of a document. Replacing meaningful content with placeholder text allows designers to design the form of the content before the content itself has been produced. Nella progettazione editoriale e grafica, Lorem Ipsum (derivato dal latino ipsum dolorem, tradotto come "dolore stesso") è un testo riempitivo comunemente usato per mostrare gli elementi grafici di un documento. La sostituzione di contenuti significativi con testo segnaposto permette ai progettisti di progettare la forma del contenuto prima che il contenuto stesso sia stato prodotto. The Lorem Ipsum text is a section of De finibus bonorum et malorum, a 1st-century BC Latin text by Cicero, with words altered, added, and removed to make it nonsensical, improper Latin. Il testo Lorem Ipsum è una sezione del “De finibus bonorum et malorum”, un testo latino di Cicerone del 1° secolo a.C., con le parole alterate, aggiunte, e rimosse per renderlo latino improprio, privo di senso.

In Italian language the shortest and most famous pangram is "Quel fez sghembo copre davanti" (26 letters), which contains 21 Italian alphabet letters with only 5 repetitions. A variant  is "Pranzo d’acqua fa volti sghembi" (26 letters). Including also J, K, W, X, Y, a famous pangram is " Quel vituperabile xenofobo zelante assaggia il whisky ed esclama: alleluja!" (64 letters).

In italiano il più corto e noto è “Quel fez sghembo copre davanti” (26 lettere), che contiene le 21 lettere dell’alfabeto italiano con solo 5 ripetizioni. Una variante è “Pranzo d’acqua fa volti sghembi” (anch’esso 26 lettere). Includendo anche J, K, W, X, Y, un pangramma noto è “Quel vituperabile xenofobo zelante assaggia il whisky ed esclama: alleluja!” (64 lettere).

In English, the shortest and odd Pangram is "Sphinx of black quartz, judge my vow" ("black quartz Sphinx, judge my vote", 29 letters). However, the most popular is "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" ("The quick brown fox jumps the lazy dog", 35 letters), also known in the world non-English speaking. It has been used since the nineteenth century, when Western Union introduced him to test the equipment for communications Telex / TWX.

In inglese, il più breve e bizzarro pangram è “Sphinx of black quartz, judge my vow” (“Sfinge di quarzo nero, giudica il mio voto”, 29 lettere). Tuttavia il più diffuso è “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog” (“La rapida volpe marrone salta il cane pigro”, 35 lettere), conosciuto anche nel mondo non anglofono. È stato infatti utilizzato fin dal diciannovesimo secolo, quando Western Union lo introdusse per testare l’attrezzatura per le comunicazioni Telex/TWX.

In French it's difficult go below the 30 letters. The pangram shorter seems to be "Buvez de ce que le patron whiskey juge fameux" ("You drink this whiskey, which the owner deems famous", 36 letters), but the best known is certainly "Portez ce vieux whiskey au juge blond qui fume" ("Bring this aged whiskeys blond judge who smokes ", 37 letters).

In francese è difficile scendere sotto le 30 lettere. Il pangramma più breve sembra essere “Buvez de ce whisky que le patron juge fameux” (“Bevete questo whisky, che il padrone reputa famoso”, 36 lettere), ma il più noto è certamente “Portez ce vieux whisky au juge blond qui fume” (“Portate questo whisky invecchiato al giudice biondo che fuma”, 37 lettere).

Spanish pangrams are quite long, including all letters and diacritical marks, and use of personal names. Pangram made up one sentence: " Benjamín pidió una bebida de kiwi y fresa; Noé, sin vergüenza, la más exquisita champaña del menú " ("Benjamin ordered a drink from the kiwi and strawberry, Noah, shamelessly, the most exquisite champagne of menu ", 78 letters). Pangram made up of two sentences " José compró una vieja zampoña en Perú. Excusándose, Sofía tiró su whisky al desagüe de la banqueta "(" José bought an old bagpipe in Peru. Apologizing, Sofía threw his whiskey in the sidewalk drain hole ", 79 letters).

I pangrammi  spagnoli  sono piuttosto lunghi, per includere tutte le lettere e i segni diacritici, e usano nomi propri. Pangram costituito da una sola frase: “Benjamín pidió una bebida de kiwi y fresa; Noé, sin vergüenza, la más exquisita champaña del menú” (“Benjamin ha ordinato una bibita al kiwi e fragola; Noah, senza vergogna, il più squisito champagne del menù”, 78 lettere). Pangram costituito da due frasi “José compró una vieja zampoña en Perú. Excusándose, Sofía tiró su whisky al desagüe de la banqueta” (“José comprò una vecchia zampogna in Perù. Scusandosi, Sofía lanciò il suo whisky nel foro di drenaggio del marciapiede”, 79 lettere).

German is the language with the most complete and elegant pangram, which contains twenty-six letters and even the three umlauts (ä, ö and ü) and esszet (ß): "Zwölf Boxkämpfer jagen Viktor quer über den großen Sylter Deich" ( "Twelve boxers chase Viktor along the great dam of Sylt", 53 letters). A pangram that has no diacritical sign or additional letter is "Franz jagt im komplett verwahrlosten Taxi quer durch Bayern" ("Franz drives a totally crumbling taxis crossing Bavaria", 51 letters).

Il tedesco è  la lingua con il più completo e elegante pangramma, che contiene le ventisei lettere e anche le tre umlaut (ä, ö e ü) e la esszet (ß): “Zwölf Boxkämpfer jagen Viktor quer über den großen Sylter Deich” (“Dodici pugili inseguono Viktor lungo la grande diga di Sylt”, 53 lettere). Un pangramma  che non presenta nessun segno diacritico o lettera supplementare è “Franz jagt im komplett verwahrlosten Taxi quer durch Bayern” (“Franz guida un taxi totalmente fatiscente attraversando la Baviera”, 51 lettere).
