The sky, which has always fascinated people, March 20, 2015 will show itself. This date, in fact, is fateful for scientists and science enthusiasts because total solar eclipse that will coincide with the Spring Equinox.

Il cielo, che ha da sempre affascinato i popoli, il 20 marzo 2015 darà spettacolo di sé. Questa data, infatti, è fatidica per studiosi e appassionati di scienza per via dell’eclissi totale di sole che avverrà in concomitanza con l’equinozio di primavera.

Eclipses have always been associated with legends, myths and symbols which constitute a rich source of inspiration in different cultures and epochs.

Le eclissi sono sempre state associate a leggende, miti e simboli che costituiscono una ricca fonte di ispirazione in culture ed epoche diverse.

Most of the ancient legends evoke a celestial creature devouring the Sun - a dragon for Indian, Indonesian and Chinese, a giant frog for Vietnamese, a jaguar in Argentina, or a vampire in Siberia, these celestial monsters are responsible for the disappearance of the Moon or the Sun.

La maggior parte delle antiche leggende evocano una creatura celeste che divora il sole - un drago per indiani, indonesiani e cinesi, una rana gigante per i Vietnamiti, un giaguaro in Argentina o un vampiro in Siberia, questi mostri celesti sono responsabili della scomparsa della Luna o il Sole.

One Chinese legend reports that the total solar eclipse in China on 22 October 2134 BC took everybody by surprise. Therefore there was no time to prepare the archers and the drummers in order to fight and frighten the dragons which devour the Sun during the eclipse.

In realtà, gli astronomi ufficiali imperiali Hi e Ho, ubriachi, non riuscirono ad avvisare in tempo il re che, a sua volta, non poté informare i suoi soldati ed organizzare una controffensiva per fermare il drago. Hi e Ho vennero puniti con la decapitazione.

To observe the solar eclipse you must wear special glasses created for eclipses or binoculars covered with a special solar filter or use a solar telescope; a mask welding can be used, but the image quality is not good, because of the thickness of the glass (double reflection). Without adequate protection, watch a solar eclipse can cause blindness: the sunglasses are not suitable in this case.

Per osservare l'eclisse solare è necessario indossare speciali occhiali creati appositamente per le eclissi o binocoli coperti con un apposito filtro solare  o utilizzare un telescopio solare; una maschera da saldatura può essere utilizzata, ma la qualità dell'immagine non è buona, a causa dello spessore del vetro (doppia riflessione). Senza una protezione adeguata, guardare un'eclissi solare può causare cecità: gli occhiali da sole non sono assolutamente adatti in questo caso.
