Ecco un esempio di una tipica conversazione in inglese che si svolge in un ristorante, tra un cameriere ed un cliente.

Waiter: Good afternoon. Do you want to order, or do you need a menu? Customer: I’d like to see a menu, please Waiter: Certainly, here you are. Customer: Thank you. What’s the dish of the day? Waiter: It’s vegetable soup. Customer: That sounds good. I’ll have that. Waiter: What would you like to drink? Customer: A glass of wine, please. Waiter: Here is your food. Enjoy your meal! Customer: Thank you. Waiter: Can I get you anything else? Customer: Yes, please, i’d like one of those chocolate puddings, and the bill , please. Waiter: Here’s your pudding. The bill is £14 Customer: Here you are. Keep the change! Waiter: Thank you! Have a good day! Customer: Bye.

Cameriere: Buon pomeriggio. Vuole ordinare subito o ha bisogno del menu? Cliente: Vorrei dare una occhiata al menu, grazie. Cameriere: Certamente, eccolo Cliente: Grazie. Qual è il piatto del giorno? Cameriere: Minestra di verdure Cliente: Mi piace, prenderò quella Cameriere: Cosa desidera da bere? Cliente: Un bicchiere di vino, grazie Cameriere: Ecco il suo cibo. Buon appetito. Cliente: grazie Cameriere: Posso portarle qualcosa d’altro? Cliente: si grazie, vorrei uno di quei dolci al cioccolato ed il conto, per favore Cameriere: Ecco il dessert.
